Ready, steady, funding go…see how one day can make all the difference!

PTA-UK, in conjunction with the Institute of Fundraising and the Office for Civil Society invite all PTAs and schools interested in establishing a PTA to a free event that will help you maximise your fundraising efforts. This one day event will take place on: Saturday 24 March 2012 Bradley Stoke Primary School, Fiddlers Wood Lane, Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire BS32 9BS 9am – 3.30pm

The programme Delegates will have the opportunity to receive advice and guidance on a range of PTA topics such as applying for external funding, encouraging more people to get involved, working with the local community, promoting your PTA, all you need to know about effective governance and of course there’ll be lots of fundraising ideas too. The programme will be a mix of plenary sessions and interactive workshops so to get the most out of this full and varied programme you are encouraged to send at least two PTA representatives. There will also be an opportunity to meet with fundraising suppliers just waiting to share their great ideas with you.

The speakers PTA-UK is delighted that a senior representative from the Institute of Fundraising will be supporting the event alongside the PTA-UK team. We’ll all be on hand to answer your PTA questions and to give you great advice based on 55 years experience of supporting PTAs just like yours!

I’ll need the name of your PTA/school and PTA-UK membership number (if applicable), plus the full names of the persons attending and contact information for the lead delegate (email address and daytime telephone number). Once your booking has been received, PTA-UK will confirm your attendance and will send joining instructions, by email to the lead delegate, nearer the time.

The event is free and open to ALL PTAs and schools wishing to start a group. We are expecting a high demand for places so please reply as soon as you can but no later than 7 March 2012.

Put the date in your diary! It’s our annual general meeting of the registered charity FODS and it’s when we have a look at how we did over the last 12 months and what the goals are for the next year, think we all know we will be fundraising so the field can be put to good use, but lets have your ideas!. We also have to do the formal bit of appointing office holders (chair, treasurer and secretary). All parents and friends of diptford school are welcome to attend, its an open meeting and coming along DOES NOT mean you will get collared into doing anything!! Honest. Your school needs your support, not just financial but with ideas and voluntary work, now more than ever so please put the date in your diary. The meeting is kindly being hosted at the home of Lynsey Goshawk, mum to Josh in year 3, so do come along: Thursday 8th March 7.30pm – Cobblestones, Bow Farm, Avonwick (please car share or park at the bottom of the hill and walk up as parking limited).

Treasurer Role for FODS – URGENT

As you know, our current treasurer, Catherine Parnell, intended to step down at the next AGM as she has taken on the Parent Governor role for Dipford for the Federation. However, she now needs an operation, so she will be stepping down earlier as she will not be in a position to undertake the Treasurer role.

The Treasurer role is not particularly difficult or time consuming (about 2 hours a month for the account preparation plus additional time if events are held) although there are a few quirks. Catherine is in the process of finalising the 2010/11 accounts and Marsha Ford has kindly agreed to audit them, the 2011/12 accounts will be up-to-date and Catherine is preparing a handover document to help the next treasurer as much as possible. Catherine will also support the new treasurer in whatever way she can.

We urgently need some-one to volunteer to take on this role – is anybody able to do that please? If you would like to talk to Catherine before you commit yourself – please call her on 01364 73099.

Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and last of the Tea Towels at the Village Hall tonight

Just to remind everyone that at the Village Hall from 5.45pm tonight, we will be offering home made Mulled Wine and warm Mince Pies (with a suggested donation of £2) before the Carol Service due to start at 6.30pm. The weather is promising to be bad so come and keep warm as long as you can with the warm wine and a mince pie, we will also be drawing the 100 club balls so it might be your lucky night, if you play that is! Last chance to grab the last few remaining tea towels as well.

See you from 5.45pm and pass the word around please as we’ve still not got everyone signed up to these e-mails yet!

Collect your Tea Towel orders or buy your Tea Towels on Thursday 8th December

Our gorgeous FODS Christmas tea towels are ready to collect. We will be setting up a table at school under cover on Thursday 8th at 3.15pm for you to come and collect your tea towels.

(They will not be packaged so please bring a bag to put them in.)

Even if you haven’t already ordered or paid for a tea towel there will be some additional ones to buy.

Tea Towels will also be on sale before the Carol Service on Thursday 15th December.
