Nearly New Sale on Saturday 24^thSeptember 2011

South Brent Village Hall, 10am – 12noon

Bring family and friends to a fun couple of hours and help FODS raise some funds for our school. There will be stalls full of good quality second hand clothes, toys and equipment for children aged 0 to 10 years. Buying second hand not only saves money but is also a greener way to buy for your family!

Bargains to be had and home-made cakes to be eaten – don’t miss out!

Confirmed Stalls . . .

• Born Again Kids Stuff will be there with their exciting range of fantastic quality second hand children’s clothing and equipment. Born Again run a shop in Kingsbridge but we are delighted that they will be with us for our Nearly New Sale.
• Cloth Nappies – if you already know the massive savings that you can make by using cloth nappies on your baby then you can only dream of the savings you can make by picking up some of your nappy collection second hand! Ali (a Diptford parent) has a substantial collection of second hand nappies for you to choose from!
• Local Parents: Good quality second hand items from local parents at great prices.

Confirmed Entertainment and Refreshments . . .

• FODS will be serving tea / coffee and cakes in the rooms adjacent to the main hall. There is space to sit down and have a cuppa while you consider your bargains. Toys, colouring materials and a couple of baby booster seats will be available to help you to amuse your little ones while you enjoy a slice or two of the yummy home made cakes that Diptford parents have made. Not to be missed – we have some talented cooks in Diptford!
• Face Painting is always fun for children young and old and temporary tattoos are all the rage!

How to Get There: South Brent is very close to the A38 so easy to get to from anywhere. The postcode of the village hall is TQ10 9PJ Further directions can be found on the Village Hall website.

Parking: There is limited parking on the road outside the hall. Please leave this free for those who may find it difficult to walk very far and use the free car park on the opposite side of the railway track from the Hall.

If you would like to book a table to sell your Nearly New baby and children’s items we are taking bookings now! £8 per table and you keep everything you make.

How can you help?

We are holding what we hope will be the biggest fundraiser for the School for the year so we are putting a lot of effort into this and need you too! We’ve chosen South Brent rather than Diptford because we feel that we are much more likely to get a good foot fall in South Brent on a Saturday morning, more young families wanting to buy things and the hall is bigger enabling us to sell more tables. People buy a table for £8 and all their sale proceeds are for them to keep. FODS will raise money for the School by selling the tables, running a raffle on the door, selling hot drinks and cake and doing face painting/tattoos and the FODS stall mentioned below.

FODS Table for Donated Items: If you only have a few QUALITY bits and what to get rid of them or even lots but you just don’t want a table then why not donate it to FODS! FODS will run its own stall at the event for such items and all donated items will be sold for the sole benefit of FODS. Nearer the time we will put boxes outside school for you to put donated items in. Although we appreciate all donations, please ensure they are quality and if they are big items then perhaps contact one of us in advance.

Promote the Event: Talk about it! Word of mouth for both prospective sellers and people who might want to buy, its not just for babies – I would image a lot of us will be getting rid of school age clothes too – so it’s for children 0-10 years. Please display a flyer in your car! Can you think of somewhere to put up some flyers locally? If so we can let you have some! What about sign making – we would like to have a big sign on the roundabout on the day!

Raffle Prizes: This will be purely on the door raffle so not necessarily the high quality prizes like the one at Christmas but some good prizes would be really good – can you help there?

Cake Making: We will be selling tea, coffee and cakes, and hope that locals even if not buying clothes will pop in for a drink and cake, always popular with the older crowd! Can you make some cakes – or be willing to co-ordinate and manage the cake making team!

Help on the Day: It goes without saying that we will need a lot of helpers on the day, more than the usual crowd. We will need the following: face painters/tattoo artists; helpers in the kitchen selling tea & cake; raffle ticket sellers (on the door); people to man the FODS stall of clothes and toys and those feeling brave – handing out flyers on the day in South Brent.

Please do volunteer if you can as we will need people to make this one work.
